Broome County's Department Of Social Services Awarded $150,000 For Document Imaging Program
BINGHAMTON, NY - The Broome County Department of Social Services has been awarded $150,000 in New York State Child Care Block Grant Enhanced Implementation Funds by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, Bureau of Early Childhood Services. These funds will be used by Social Services to begin implementation of a new Electronic Document Management System.
The new document imaging system will replace the current paper-based business process and records management system now in use. As caseloads increase and staff levels fluctuate the new records management system will increase department efficiency, reduce storage and retrieval costs and meet all regulatory policies, procedures and standards. The project cost includes equipment, software, services and peripheral pieces.
The imaging system will begin in the Day Care Unit of Social Services as the funds have been provided by the Bureau of Early Childhood Services. Historical as well as current day care client and provider data will be captured and stored by the imaging system.
The Department of Social Services is pursuing additional funding sources and plans to have the electronic imaging system in place department wide within two years.
