Bridge Openings Improve Travel In Broome County
BINGHAMTON, NY - Broome County Executive Jeffrey P. Kraham was on hand at two recent bridge openings in Broome County.
The Ames Road Bridge, which connects Route 26 to Nanticoke Road in the Town of Maine was formally opened on November 28, 2000. The bridge was undergoing repairs for several months and the renovations include widening the bridge to make it safer for travel.
The Hale Eddy Bridge in Deposit, New York was formally opened on December 5, 2000. The bridge is located on County Route 4 / County Route 56 over the West Branch Delaware River in the Towns of Sanford and Deposit, Broome and Delaware Counties.
The $1.6 million project began in June 1999 and results in a new fishing access for West Branch Delaware River fishermen. The fishing access was created as part of the State Department of Transportation's Environmental Initiative. The bridge is owned and maintained by Broome and Delaware Counties.
The Association of General Contractors and the State Department of Transportation have awarded Region 9 DOT officials and R. Devincintis Construction of Binghamton an Environmental Quality Recognition Award for the bridge project.
