"Project Homecoming" Job Fair Offers Hundreds of Jobs

BINGHAMTON, NY - The 2000 Project Homecoming Job Fair will showcase more than 90 companies featuring more than 1,200 jobs available in the region. The 4th Annual "Project Homecoming" Job Fair will be held on Thursday, December 28 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Oakdale Mall. Sponsored by the Binghamton Regional Recruitment Task Force, the Job Fair will host 20 first-time businesses.

Aptly named "Project Homecoming," the job fair targets college students who will be graduating soon, job seekers looking to make a change and former Broome County residents who would like to come home.

"Broome County is a hot-bed for quality jobs ranging from high-tech manufacturing and e-business to health and human services," said Margaret Scarinzi, Director of Economic Development Research for the Broome County Industrial Development Agency. "Job seekers that participate in this event have the benefit of speaking directly to representatives from many of the premier companies in the region in one convenient setting," said Scarinzi.

"There is a misconception about our region's economy," said Win Warner, Vice Chair for the 2000 Binghamton Regional Recruitment Task Force. "We're here to prove them wrong." Professionals will find not only growing job opportunities but also a welcoming community rich with cultural and recreational activities.

In addition, the Broome-Tioga Workforce Development System will be present with an on-line database of employment opportunities across the region. The New York State Department of Labor, Broome Employment Center and Tioga Employment Center have joined together to form this job service.
