Airport Adds "Funports" for the Holidays
BINGHAMTON, NY - The Greater Binghamton Airport announced this week the installation of "Airport Funports" for kids of all ages to enjoy during the busy holiday travel season. Sections of the new terminal building are specifically designated "Funport" Stations that will help entertain children and families while at the airport.
"We know this is going to be a very busy holiday travel season," stated Jeffrey P. Kraham, Broome County Executive. "It's for this reason we decided to set up areas to help parents keep children occupied at the airport." The FAA has recommended passengers arrive at least two hours before their flight departure, as new security measures will certainly slow the process.
The "Funport" Stations are made possible with the generous support of numerous entities in the Broome County region including: The Discovery Center, The Broome County Library, Roberson Museum and Science Center, the County government as well as local businesses who have donated items for each of the areas in the airport. Children can keep occupied with hands-on exhibits, children's books, coloring books and holiday displays that both kids parents will appreciate. A special area will also be set up to allow children to make holiday tree decorations to adorn the fourteen foot evergreen in the Airport's departure lounge.
