STOP-DWI Holiday Classic Set to Tip-Off at B.C. Veterans Memorial Arena

BINGHAMTON, NY - The excitement is building in the Greater Binghamton area for the 15th annual STOP-DWI Holiday Classic. The tournament itself kicks off on Wednesday, December 27th at Binghamton High School with the Slam Dunk and 3-point Competition. That will be followed by three full days of competition at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. The tournament will again feature an eight team national division and two four team regional divisions.

This year the tournament features the following teams:

All Hallows High School from Bronx, New York (Catholic High School Athletic Association); Boys & Girls High School of Brooklyn, New York (Public Schools Athletic League); three time South Carolina State 4A Champion Gaffney High School of Gaffney, South Carolina; reigning California Interscholastic Federation-Central champion three years straight, Mission Prep High School from San Luis Obispo, California; Paul Dunbar High School, Lexington Kentucky; 2000 STOP-DWI Holiday Classic champion St. Thomas Aquinas High School from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Towson Catholic High School of Towson, Maryland and tournament sponsor and host Binghamton High School.

Things you need to know about this year’s tournament:

  • Dec. 27th-Slam dunk and 3-point competition-4pm at Binghamton High School’s Gymnasium($2 admission)
  • Day 1-tournament play begins at 11:15am on Thursday, December 28th, featuring 1-session in the morning (3 games)and 1 session in the evening (3 games; 5:45pm, 7:30pm & 9pm )
  • Day 2 & 3, December 29th and 30th, feature 1 Session in the morning(4 games) and 1 Session in the evening(3 games; 5:45, 7:30pm & 9pm.)
  • 2006 Regional and National brackets can be viewed online at www.bcstopdwi.com. Click on the “Holiday Classic” link and then click on the “Field” link to find the detailed schedule of game times
  • $7 admission is good for one morning or one evening session

Saturday, December 30th’s evening session is the Championship round for Regional Division I, Regional Division II and the National Division.
