Lose The Smokes-Win A Grand!
BINGHAMTON, NY - Aside from the obvious health benefits, cigarette smokers now have a special incentive for giving up their habit. They stand a chance of winning $1,000 if they stay away from cigarettes for an entire month. This new anti-smoking contest dubbed "Quit & Win" by it's sponsor, the Broome-Tioga PREVENT Coalition, is part of the broader, Stop. Don't Start campaign aimed at raising community awareness while helping cigarette smokers quit smoking for good. The campaign kicks off on December 31, 2001.
To enter the Quit & Win contest, smokers, 18 years of age and older, must pledge not to smoke between February 1, 2002 and February 28, 2002. In order to be eligible to win, entrants are required to take a simple breath test and furnish the names of three people who can verify that the participant has not touched a cigarette during the entire month-long period that the contest runs. Entry forms must be submitted by February 1, 2002. The $1000 prize winner will be selected in a random drawing. Entry forms are available at various locations throughout Broome and Tioga Counties. For more information about the "Quit & Win" contest or to find out where you can pick up an entry form, call the Broome-Tioga PREVENT Coalition at 607.778.3068.
