BINGHAMTON, NY - Broome County Executive Barbara J. Fiala officially welcomed Lockheed Martin to Hangar No. 1 at the Greater Binghamton Airport on Thursday, June 28. Lockheed Martin Systems Integration – Owego, Broome County, and its Greater Binghamton Airport reached an agreement whereby Lockheed Martin will lease the hangar for the next five years. At a news conference held today at Hangar No. 1, Executive Fiala and Michele Evans Lockheed Martin Vice President of Aircraft Systems, opened the doors to the newly renovated facility.

“From the moment this opportunity presented itself, this has been a true public-private collaborative effort,” said Executive Fiala. “My office and Aviation Commissioner Carl Beardsley have worked closely with Lockheed Martin, state representatives and our own county departments to bring this project to a successful conclusion and the results are truly gratifying.”

“Lockheed Martin Systems Integration – Owego is pleased to be working with Broome County and the Greater Binghamton Airport.,” said Michele Evans, vice president of Aircraft Systems. “As we continue to expand our business opportunities and pursue new contracts, securing appropriate space and facilities is a key component to our success. This lease will allow us to continue conducting operational test flights of advanced technologies and integrated systems, and do so from this airport and in harmony with flight operations in the Greater Binghamton area.”

“We are excited to have Lockheed Martin as our tenant,” said Carl Beardsley, Aviation Commissioner. “The company plays such a crucial role in our community. We are proud to be associated with them and to be able to provide this service to their operations.”
