Broome County Health Department to Offer an Additional Flu Clinic

BINGHAMTON, NY - It's not too late to get a flu shot! The Broome County Health Department has flu vaccine and will be hosting a flu clinic that is open to all residents. This flu clinic will take place on Thursday, January 3rd, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Broome County Health Department, 225 Front Street, Binghamton, NY.

The flu season lasts from December through March and generally peaks in February, so getting the flu shot now can still provide protection. We encourage anyone 65 and older and those not yet 65 with chronic health problems, to come to this clinic. Additionally, anyone in the community who wants to prevent the flu and has not gotten the flu shot can attend this clinic.

Residents are eligible for a flu shot for a fee of $30. The pneumonia shot is also available for Medicare Part B recipients aged 65 and older. There will be no out of pocket fee for the flu or pneumonia shots for Medicare Part B recipients. Individuals on Medicare must present all insurance cards to staff at the clinic. If you have signed up with a Medicare Advantage Plan you need to go to you primary care provider for the flu shot or be prepared to pay by cash or check. Some examples of Medicare Advantage programs are: Todays Options-American Progressive, Excellus Medicare Blue PPO, Aetna Golden Medicare, and CDPHP Medicare Choice.

There is plenty of free parking at the Health Department building, located at the corner of Front and Clinton Streets. Broome County Transit bus #8 stops at the Health Department. This is a walk-in clinic; no appointments will be taken.
