Broome County Take Your Child to Work Day
BINGHAMTON, NY - Today, Broome County Government welcomed about twenty children to participate in “Take Your Child to Work Day”. Employees were joined with their children at work to experience various county departments and to learn about county government. Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala welcomed students to the County Office Building and invited them to tour the Executive office. There, children got to sit at the County Executive's desk and have their photo taken.
Participants began their day in the county courts were they learned about the judicial branch of government and court operations. Following, students toured Broome Security and found out about the various county owned building's security, law enforcement operations and additional security details the county provides.
The students then boarded the county trolley for a quick ride through downtown Binghamton to discuss B.C. Transit and the county public transportation system. Upon their return, the students were greeted by the Front Street Dog Shelter staff to discuss animal adoption. The staff was also joined by the shelter's ambassador dog to discuss proper training and animal maintenance.
