Annual Senior Legal Clinic Coming Soon

-A A +A

The Broome County Bar Association and the Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York are pleased to announce that the Annual Senior Legal Clinic is open for registration!  This ever popular program, now in its eleventh year, will take place on  Saturday October 22, 2016 at our convenient location: Broome County Library, 185 Court Street, Binghamton, between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm.  Free parking.  To reserve a time slot please call Arlene Sanders at (607) 231-5950 by October 20, and specify your legal topic.

The Clinic offers seniors, age 60 and over, a free half hour consultation with an attorney experienced in an area of law that they have questions about.  We provide advice on debt collection and bankruptcy, trusts and estates, medicaid planning, powers of attorney, health care proxies, housing, real estate, grandparents’ rights, oil and gas leases and more.

Commonly asked questions include: Should I pay off my credit card debt if I am on a fixed income?  Is a power of attorney something I should have?  Do I have a legal right to visit my grandchildren?  Can my landlord enter my apartment without my permission?  Can a nursing home put a lien on my residence if I enter long term care?

We look forward to seeing you and answering your questions at this year’s clinic!
