Q.  What’s one way to be healthy?  (What’s an easy way to be healthy?)

A.  To have strong social connections.

Yes, studies show that people with strong ties to others are the healthiest. Why is it important?  Relationships with others increase mental alertness, improve emotional well-being, provide a network of support, and improve physical health.

If you’re a caregiver, you know that helping someone stay active and engaged can be challenging. At this program, we’ll share eight research-supported reasons to be socially engaged because of the health benefits. We’ll also offer tips to keep your loved ones socially connected.  Something as simple as discovering indoor walking locations, accepting home delivered meals, learning something new, or spending a day with the adult day program can show health improvements all around.

The discussion is part of the Office for Aging Caregiver Unit and is open to the public.
