Broome County Welcomes New Foster Grandparents
The Broome County Office for Aging is pleased to welcome six new Foster Grandparents to our program and community. They have completed the free training program and are now helping children succeed in elementary schools, Head Start programs and daycare centers throughout Broome County.
The new “grandparents” have joined a team of fifty older adults who volunteer in classrooms helping children learn basic skills, such as reading, while encouraging the development of social skills, like making friends and trust-building. The “grandmas” and “grandpas” are making a difference in our community by sharing their love and encouraging children who need extra support in classrooms.
Income-eligible older adults receive a paid stipend, free meal and travel expense reimbursement. More Foster Grandparents are needed. To enroll or for more information, please contact the Broome County Office for Aging at (607) 778-2089 or email@example.com.
