Meals on Wheels

-A A +A

Do you have difficulty preparing meals due to a health condition, illness, or injury? Maybe you also have difficulty getting to the store to purchase the ingredients necessary to make healthy, nourishing meals. If so, you may benefit from Meals on Wheels.

Each weekday around noon, dedicated volunteers deliver a hot lunch along with items for a cold supper to Meals on Wheels participants’ doors. A variety of delicious meals are served each week. The meals are prepared to meet 2/3 of dietary requirements, per U.S. Dietary Guidelines, and to accommodate those who need a reduced sugar diet or mechanical soft texture.

The Meals on Wheels program can also provide peace of mind for caregivers. Not only are their loved ones receiving nutritious meals, but the volunteers who deliver the meals also serve as a quick check on the participants who often live alone. Many participants report feeling more independent, more socially supported, and healthier because of Meals on Wheels.

There are no income requirements for the program. If you are interested in finding out more, please call the Office for Aging at 778-2411.
