Too Cluttered to Move?

-A A +A

If you’re thinking about selling your house, how ready are you?

Moving is emotional, especially if you’ve lived in the same house for several decades.  You may wonder what emotions you should expect and how those emotions will affect the sale.  You may also question how involved your adult children will be, even if they live far away.  Other decisions such as determining what is involved with cleaning out the contents of your home and identifying how much to take with you also play important roles.

Moving is a practical process. Office for Aging offers a monthly Downsize and Declutter Discussion on the second Tuesday of every month.  This month, join us on Tuesday, February 14 at 3 PM at Broome West Senior Center, 2801 Wayne Street, Endwell.  At this meeting, two local realtors will share their years of experience helping others (including their parents) with this huge task.  The realtors will discuss all of those important questions you have about moving, such as:

  • What’s involved before putting a house on the market?
  • How can I start cleaning my home and organizing what I want to take with me?
  • How do I find a compatible realtor?
  • How much is the house worth to a buyer?
  • What if my house sells in a day?
  • Am I healthy enough to sell my house alone?
  • What emotions should I expect?
  • What role can my children play in my move?

So, come join us on February 14th at Broome West Senior Center!  No registration is necessary.  If you should have questions, please call Joan S. at Office for Aging at (607) 778-2411.
