Foster Grandparent Program

-A A +A

Give the gift of love and encouragement by helping a child with special or exceptional needs. It may be the best gift you’ll ever give! As a “grandparent” volunteer in a classroom, you will help children to learn while you are reading to them, listening, talking, playing games, singing or helping them with their math or reading.

If you are age 55 or over and have at least 15 hours a week to volunteer, consider joining the Office for Aging’s Foster Grandparents Program.  You could help children in elementary schools, Head Starts, day care centers and middle schools across Broome County.

There is no income requirement and no prior classroom experience is needed. If you are income-eligible, you could receive a stipend, meal and reimbursement for travel. Call the Foster Grandparent Program at 778-2089 to find out how you can enroll!
