Join the Fun!

With the holiday season approaching, this is the perfect time visit to a senior center. If you come on December 14th or 30th, you will find the center celebrating the holidays. The decorations will be up, the entertainment arranged, and a very special meal prepared.  All you have to do is decide to be part of the fun.

The menu for the Holiday meal on Wednesday, December 14, includes chicken cordon bleu with cheese sauce, brown rice pilaf, autumn blend vegetables, and strawberry shortcake.

On Friday, December 30, the centers will ring in the New Year a bit early, but that will allow you to celebrate twice! The entrée is fish florentine or holupki—and you get a baked potato topped with sour cream, peas and carrots, and a black forest brownie.

This is also a perfect time to get a jumpstart on those New Year’s resolutions. The centers offer exercise programs and equipment that can help you work off those holiday goodies. Participating in exercise programs is a great way stay active, meet friends, and have fun!

Exercise options at the centers include Zumba, chair yoga, Wii bowling, and walking groups. Zumba is based on dance moves choreographed to Latin and international music. Chair yoga provides many of the benefits of traditional yoga, however postures and movements are very gentle and easy to maintain. Exercise equipment is available at the Broome West, Northern Broome, Eastern Broome, and First Ward centers.
