Your Ideas Needed!
Every year the Office for Aging asks the Broome County community to help us identify needs currently experienced by seniors and by those who provide care for family members and friends who are seniors.
The Office for Aging is committed to providing services that will help seniors remain healthy and independent. This includes services that help connect seniors and caregivers to the information they need such as the Senior Resource Line, Caregiver Corner and Senior News. Programs provided for active seniors include senior centers and the Foster Grandparent Program. And in-home services such as home delivered meals and in-home care help support seniors in their homes.
Programs that exist today because seniors and caregivers spoke up about their needs include Mission Meltaway, the Caregiver Resource Center, the Home Repair Program and the OFA mini-bus. But needs change over time, so it is important to know what issues seniors and their caregivers are facing now. Please take the time to share your thoughts.
If you need some questions to get started:
- Do you know any seniors or caregivers who need assistance? What are their needs?
- What would you like to see the community do for seniors and caregivers?
- What services should the community continue to provide for seniors and caregivers? What services are lacking?
There are three ways to share your ideas: call Jean Smith at 778-2411; send a letter to Broome County Office for Aging, Jean Smith, PO Box 1766, Binghamton, NY 13902; or send an email to: ofa@co.broome.ny.us. You can be confident that OFA will not publish your name or associate it with anything you say.
