Detective Division

It is our task to serve the citizens of Broome County, to prevent and investigate crimes committed to make Broome County a safer place to live and work.

The Detective Division is divided into four units:

General Investigations / Juvenile:  The General and Juvenile Investigation Units investigate adult and juvenile crimes to include burglaries, robberies, larcenies, sex offenses, frauds, and other felony-level crimes. 

Special Investigations Unit:  The Special Investigations Unit in the Detective Division conducts narcotics-related investigations throughout Broome County.  Members of this unit work together as a Task Force with the Binghamton Police Department, the Village of Johnson City Police Department, and the Village of Endicott Police Department. 

Warrants:  The Warrant Division serves arrest warrants issued by county and local courts throughout the United States. Members of the Warrant Division are also part of the U.S. Marshal Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Taskforce.

 

There are currently 2 Detective Sergeants, 10 Detectives, and 2 Deputies assigned to the four units.

The Detective Division is also responsible for updating and maintaining the Sex Offender Registry. Offenders that fail to register, give address changes, and fail to file their annual update are criminally charged.  Sex Offender Watch
