The New York State Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse act requires manufacturers to provide free and convenient recycling of electronic waste to most consumers in the state.

Effective January 1, 2012 private and municipal solid waste haulers and transporters in New York State are prohibited from collecting electronic waste unless it is destined to be recycled.

Electronics Recycling at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility

 Who Can Participate?

Broome and Tioga County residents can participate and only electronic waste produced within these counties will be accepted.  The facility holds collection days year-round for Broome County residents and April-November for Tioga County residents. 

Materials Accepted:

• Computers, monitors, printers, laptops
• Keyboards, radios, stereos, modems
• Televisions, VCRs, fax machines, microwaves
• Mobile (cell) phones, pages
• Hand held games, GPS units

Materials NOT Accepted:

• Counter top appliances
• Answering machines
• Large appliances, vacuums, dehumidifiers, air conditioners
