New York State:

  • 1/25/2021 – The Governor announced a hotline to report COVID vaccine fraud and scams
  • 1/18/2021 – Get There will be providing transportation to vaccine appointments for those who are having difficulty getting to an appointment.
    • To schedule a ride to your appointment, call the Getthere Call Center at 855-373-4040.  They are available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • 1/15/2021 – State vaccination site is open at BU in Johnson City, NY 
  • NY State put out the following vaccine announcements as of Jan 14, 2021: *ALERT: The Federal Government determines how much vaccine New York State receives.  The Federal Government has only given New York approximately 300,000 vaccines/week for over 7 million people who are eligible – as a result supply is very limited*
    • Vaccines are going to be available at pharmacies, hospitals and through government statewide – please contact your provider of choice to schedule your vaccine appointment.

  • COVID-19 Vaccine Information
    • Two vaccines were approved in December for use to vaccinate the population against COVID-19. As vaccine doses become available, the state will move forward with its phased plan of vaccinating the populations.     • Updates will be announced as they are available.  To receive email summaries and updates each weeknight, sign up for emails from the Governor.  These emails include information on case numbers across the state as well as updates on the state’s COVID-19 response and vaccination distribution plan.
  • COVID-19 Economic Impact Payment (Dec 2020 payment)
  • 1/14/21: AARP has announced that they will be helping with taxes, but differently this year. 
    • An appointment is required; no walk ins will be accepted.
    • Call 211 (or 1 800 901 2180, if not a Broome County resident) to start the appointment process
    • Copies will be made of all tax documents
    • Must have a working phone number or email address
    • After you contact 211, you will be contacted by an AARP representative to determine how they can best serve you.

  • 11/16/20: Governor Cuomo announced that the State launched a new web application to help New Yorkers find state services and benefits. The "Find Services" survey aims to assist New York residents in finding needed services through one streamlined location: https://findservices.ny.gov/app/survey
  • Announced 11/12 and beginning on 11/13,Governor Cuomo has ordered:
    • gatherings limited to 10 people
    • restaurants and bars must close in-person services daily from 10 pm to 5 am. (excludes take-out and delivery after 10 pm)
    • gyms and fitness centers must close by 10 pm
  • Mobile Rapid COVID Testing Sitestest results in 15 minutes for those experiencing COVID-19 symptoms - Last Day is Friday, 3/12

    • Appointments are available between 1pm and 7pm, Monday through Friday.
    • those with no internet can call 211 (1-800-901-2180) for assistance setting up an appointment

  • April 17: Governor Cuomo issued an executive order on face masks.
    • “Effective at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2020 any individual who is over age two and able to medically tolerate a face-covering shall be required to cover their nose and mouth with a mask or cloth face-covering when in a public place and unable to maintain, or when not maintaining, social distance”.
    • Can be a bandana or scarf – needs to cover mouth and nose

  • April 24: Broome County Executive Jason Garnar enacted a face mask policy
    • all Broome County employees must wear a mask or face-covering when they are at work and unable to maintain a social distance of six feet.
  • April 30:
    • Effective immediately, Broome County Executive Jason Garnar orders that all visitors who are over age two and able to medically tolerate a face- covering shall be required to cover their nose and mouth with a mask or cloth face- covering when in a Broome County facility or when utilizing Broome County Transit Services.
  • August 13: Broome County Senior Centers will remain closed for the rest of 2020
    • Senior centers will still have meals available (curbside pickup) by reservation.
