There is a $10 fee for duplicate permits.  Older style paper permits are still legal and acceptable.

Broome County Pistol Permits:

Pistol Permits are $140.00 Cash or Money Order (Made payable to Director of OMB)

Applicants must be 21 years of age and a Broome County resident.   

New pistol permit applications will ONLY be accepted for processing:  

Monday- Friday 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

If you already have a pistol permit and wish to be a part of the FOIL Exemption,  Select the link provided for the Foil Exemption Opt-out Form, fill out the form, print, sign, and return it by mail to the Broome County Sheriff’s Pistol Permit Office.

Sheriff Identification Cards:

Must bring Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Proof Of Address, and, if married, a certified or original Marriage License (if female).
The cost is $10.00 and is issued the same day.

Must Bring Identification and Fingerprint Card.
No Appointment is Necessary.


A friendly reminder to the public that the Broome County Pistol Permit Office does not have any role in the certification process nor access to the state system, so if you call our office about recertification, you will be directed to the New York State Police website.
