Free COVID-19 Tests Available from Federal Government

Department of Health and Human Services and United States Postal Service are providing eight additional COVID-19 test kits to households at no cost.

The federal government has opened a third round of free over-the-counter COVID-19 tests. The United States Postal Service will deliver eight antigen tests to any residential address or residential PO Box in the United States. You must register to receive the latest round of tests; those who have not signed up to receive their first or second shipment can still do so as well. These tests are easy to use, non-invasive, and come with detailed instructions.

Broome County Health Department reminds residents of the importance of having a supply of tests on hand and encourages everyone to sign up for the latest shipment. Visit www.covid.gov/tests or call 1-800-232-0233 to place your order.

COVID-19 tests are still available for pickup at Broome County Health Department at 225 Front Street Binghamton, NY. Please remember that a COVID-19 infection may not be recognized by an antigen test immediately. If you are experiencing symptoms, we recommend waiting a day before using a test. In the meantime, please isolate away from others.

Broome County residents should report positive test results to our self-service case investigation system at www.gobroomecounty.com/hd/coronavirus. You will be issued individualized isolation and release orders for your records. You can also use this system to receive advice on things like masking and quarantining after close contact with a case.
