Suzy Ryan began serving as a legislator on January 1, 2019. District 11 covers parts of Binghamton's Westside and the Town of Union. She was re-elected to her second term in 2022. Suzy has over 25 years of experience in public policy, planning and research.

In her early career, she worked for Broome County and implemented the first county-wide recycling and hazardous waste collection program for households and small businesses. For ten years, she worked on an international program to manage the Gulf of Maine, one of the largest fisheries and an economic driver for the US and Canada. Currently, she teaches environmental studies at Binghamton University and serves on the Broome County Environmental Management Council.

She has served in leadership roles at the local, state and national levels and is an active volunteer in the community. She is an alumna of Binghamton University - Harpur College (Geology & Environmental Sciences) and the University of Southern Maine - Muskie School of Public Service. Suzy has two children and a chocolate lab rescue dog.
