County Executive To Present Broome-Tioga Special Olympics With Check From "Champions On Ice" Performance
Special Olympics to be held May 1st at Chenango Valley High School
BINGHAMTON, NY - Broome County Executive, Jeff Kraham will present a check to John Crosby, Area Coordinator for Broome-Tioga Special Olympics on Thursday, April 29th at 10:30 a.m. at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
The check represents proceeds from the "Champions On Ice" final dress rehearsal held at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena on April 2nd. Mr. Kraham and Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena Manager, Michael Marinaccio negotiated the open show with Collins Enterprises, producers of "Champions on Ice". Broome County residents were able to enjoy world class figure skating performances while helping raise money for the Broome-Tioga Special Olympics.
This Saturday, May 1st the Broome-Tioga Special Olympics will be holding Olympic Competition at Chenango Valley Jr. Sr. High School in the Town of Fenton. Over 425 athletes, comprising 18 teams from Broome and Tioga Counties will compete in a variety of events including; softball, track and field, Frisbee toss and basketball. Food concessions, a DJ and many community organizations will provide demonstrations and entertainment for athletes and spectators. Opening ceremonies for the Broome-Tioga Special Olympics are at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 1st at the high school.
