The Broome County Department of Personnel is responsible for administering civil service for the County of Broome and all of the towns and villages in the County and their associated school districts. The City of Binghamton has its own Civil Service Commission, governing the City and its school district. The positions under our jurisdiction represent a wide variety of careers.
Testing utilizes many formats, including written examination, training and experience evaluation, PC-administered tests, performance tests and agility tests (physical fitness screening tests). For each examination, we publish a detailed announcement specifying the minimum qualifications that must be met in order to be admitted to the examination. Please read all materials carefully, as the application fee is non-refundable.
