Space Available In Cooking Class For Senior Men

BINGHAMTON, NY - Are you a senior man who needs to learn to cook?
Whether you’re single, want to upgrade your skills, or need to take over cooking because your wife is no longer able, here’s a chance to learn and have fun at the same time.
Men Making Meals, an award-winning cooking course co-sponsored by the Broome County Office for Aging and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County, was designed for the older generation of men who never thought they’d need to learn to cook. If the kitchen still feels like a foreign country, this course is for you.
Men Making Meals consists of 5 two-hour classes that include lunch, which you’ll enjoy with your fellow students. You’ll learn how to plan meals, follow recipes and be a smart food shopper. There are no fees to participate. The program receives support from the NYS Office for the Aging Caregiver Support Program.
Well over a hundred senior men have learned to cook by taking Men Making Meals since it started in 2002. They have not only acquired a new skill, but they’ve also enjoyed the friendship with other men in the same boat.
The next course will be held at Trinity Memorial Church in Binghamton, and begins on Thursday, February 1, 2007.
Classes are small, and space is limited. Pre-registration is required.
For more information, or to register, call Office for Aging as soon as possible, at 607.778.2411.
