Broome County & CCE team up for summer programming in the Parks

This summer, immerse yourself at Broome County Parks to learn all about nature. Broome County is partnering with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County to offer nature-based programming throughout July and August. There will be 15 different opportunities this summer to get up close and personal with plants, animals, insects, and everything in between.

Nature Walks: Take a guided park tour on the first Sunday of each month this summer; 3:00 – 4:00 PM July 2nd (Cole Park), August 6th (Hawkins Pond), & September 3rd (Otsiningo Park)

Canoe/Kayak Tours: A guided paddle around Whitney Point Lake; July 15th & August 19th 9:00 – 11:00 AM, July 27th & August 30th 5:30 – 7:30 PM (Dorchester Park)

Pond Safaris: Catch and learn about all sorts of pond critters; July 22nd 10:00 – 11:30 AM, 1:00 – 2:30 PM, 3:30 – 5:00 PM (Greenwood Park); August 5th 10:00 – 11:30 AM, 1:00 – 2:30 PM, 3:30 – 5:00 PM (Cole Park)

Frog & Toad Jumping Contest: Catch frogs & toads – may the fastest amphibian win! July 19th – 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM (Cole Park); August 10th – 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM (Greenwood Park)

Outdoor Skills: Learn valuable outdoor survival skills; August 13th 4:00 – 7:00 PM Fire Skills, August 20th 2:00 – 4:00 PM Hiking Skills (Greenwood Park)

One-Off Specials: Discover Fireflies July 28th 8:30 – 9:30 PM (Dorchester Park), Perseid Meteor Shower August 12th 9:30 – 10:30 PM (Aqua Terra), Discover Dragonflies August 19th 1:30 – 3:00 PM (Greenwood Park)
