Suzanne Gorman Messina (D) was elected to her first term on the County Legislature in November, 2008. Her legislative district covers large portions of the Towns of Binghamton and Conklin, as well as a smaller portion of southeastern Vestal.

Sue is committed to improving the economic conditions in Broome County through creative job-growth opportunities, increasing efficiency in government services and the promotion of alternative energy solutions for both public and private projects, as well as enhancing communication with the residents of her district.

 

Sue serves as a Business Educator at the Broome-Tioga BOCES Career & Technical High School and has received numerous awards for her work. She serves on several Broome-Tioga BOCES advisory committees. Sue holds multiple business and education degrees from The Citadel, Buffalo State, Medaille College and Bryant & Stratton Business Institute.

 

Sue’s community involvement includes active membership at St. Vincent de Paul Church, the Ladies’ Ancient Order of Hibernians and various committees relating to her career as an educator. She also served on the Broome County Veterans Arena and Forum Board (finance committee and marketing committee) for the past two years.

 

Sue and husband, Barry, live in Vestal and have two grown children, Morgan and Chris.
